Federal Hill

A recent assignment with the New York Times Travel section brought me to Providence’s great Federal Hill Neighborhood. I used to live on the Hill and as close as all this was I never ventured in to Scialo Bros (pronounced ‘shallow’) or Antonelli’s Poultry. Don’t be like me. Check them out. The bakery with its century-old ovens in the kitchen was delightfull but I will admit this hardened journalist needed to take a breather after a half hour behind the curtain with the unfortunate Rhode Island Reds. What can you do?
“The poet must not avert his eyes” or camera for that matter. They have a tough job and they feed a lot of people so I’m glad I have the pictures now. Check it out.
